Bierkultur | Beer Culture
Tollwood merges love and passion for beer with cultural experiences.
“We could be happy if the air was as pure as beer“- Germany’s former Federal President Richard Weizsäcker who was committed to environmental protection used these admonitory words. To him beer was to be regarded as the epitome for purity. Beer is more than just a drink. Its presence is global- yet each brew is one of a kind. Beer could also be described as ‘liquid art‘. America’s great inventor Benjamin Franklin put it perfectly: “God made beer because he loves us and wants us to be happy.“ Tollwood brings a little bit of this love to its summer festival.
Water, hops, malt, and yeast – these four ingredients embody Germany’s purity law. The nearly 4000 different beer labels within the state of Bavaria make for an impressive variety. At Tollwood Summer Festival we offer a wide range of beers. Our tents and beer gardens celebrate „Beer Culture“ while taking you on a journey into the world of liquid bread as we’ve known if for more than 6000 years.

The beer culture at a glance
16 breweries – 16 times the taste: this is what beer culture at the Tollwood Summer Festival stands for
The selected breweries combine tradition and quality, culinary delights and culture. The Tollwood Summer Festival features large and well-known breweries as well as small and innovative ones. There is an organic beer made from surplus bread, or craft beers – a symbol of the lively and innovative beer culture. Beer-based cocktails and dishes refined with barley juice round off the taste experience. And Tollwood serves culture to match the Bavarian national drink.
