“FierS à Cheval”

Hardly any other being has moved the creative powers of man more than the horse. Countless dreams and fantasies manifest themselves in stories, myths and legends about this animal. Numerous artists praise the horse for its pride, boldness and elegance. One is reminded of Franz Marc’s “Blue Horse”, probably the most famous painting of this legendary painter, when one sees the Compagnie des Quidams from the French region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes with its bluish shimmering creatures. It is a fairytale parade of larger-than-life horse figures made of light, air and transparent fabrics that transforms Tollwood’s setting into a gigantic stage. It’s time to let your imagination run wild. “FierS à Cheval” is the name of this show, “Proud Horse”, a series of small stories for big dreams, realized and performed by fourteen artists from the fields of theatre, dance, music and circus. In small, fine choreographies, the 3.50 metre high horses dance in artistically drawn formations and make the audience dream. A miracle of street theatre art.

Several years ago, the Compagnie des Quidams enchanted the audience of the winter festival with its production “Rêve d’Herbert”. In 1994 Jean-Baptiste Duperray founded this street theatre group whose trademark is to create a metamorphosis of living beings in a poetic, visual and musical universe with light materials.
