The Munich band Funkenflug was born out of a shared vision- with the goal of writing their own songs and reinterpreting well-known songs in their own unique way.
Their sound combines folk, swing, and pop into a varied mix of driving rhythms and dreamy moments. Guitar, violin, double bass, and polyphonic vocals characterize their unmistakable sound. In their lyrics, Funkenflug address socially critical issues as well as personal experiences—sometimes sharp-tongued and humorous, sometimes melancholic and poetic. Their first EP last fall was followed recently by the single “Glück”- a preview of their upcoming album.
