Safety measures
for the Tollwood “Musik-Arena”
No backpacks
Please note that bringing large bags and rucksacks is strictly prohibited. Only bags up to DIN A4 (21cm x 29.7cm) are permitted.
There will be body checks and your bags will be searched at the entrance to Musik-Arena.
We generally advise our concert guests to leave all non-essential items at home, in order to speed up the security checks.
No bottles allowed
Bringing glass containers and tins of any size, as well as other containers larger than 0.5 litres and bulky or dangerous items (including selfie sticks), is prohibited.
Taking photos for personal use only
Photography for personal use (no publication in print or online) using compact cameras or smartphones is only permitted without using a flash or selfie sticks. The personal rights of third parties must be respected. Professional equipment may only be brought onto the premises by journalists with an accredited press pass (no publication without the organiser’s permission).
No smoking
Smoking inside the tent is not allowed.
Mandatory purchase of wheelchair tickets for wheelchair users
Only a limited number of wheelchair spaces are available in the Music Arena. Wheelchair users are therefore required to purchase a wheelchair ticket. This ticket is valid for the person using the wheelchair and one accompanying person. Tickets for wheelchair users can be ordered directly from Tollwood by telephone on 089 38 38 50 0 (free delivery). Tickets can only be purchased directly at MT’s own advance booking offices HP8 (Isarphilharmonie) and Deutsches Theater.
Please note: The Musik-Arena has specially reserved spaces for wheelchair users, which are only available by purchasing a wheelchair ticket. Without a valid wheelchair ticket, wheelchair users will not be admitted.
At seated concerts, spaces are reserved at the front; at non-seated concerts, a raised platform is set up for wheelchair users. There is also space for one accompanying person in each case. At seated concerts, a seat is available for accompanying persons directly next to the wheelchair space. The designated spaces are positioned to ensure a clear view for wheelchair users.
Tollwood offers free admission to one accompanying person for people with a ‘B’ on their severe disability card as a voluntary service. The accompanying person must be able to assist the wheelchair user, for example, if it becomes necessary to leave the music arena quickly. This means that the accompanying person must be able to escort the wheelchair user out of the event area independently.
Safety and Awareness
Tollwood develops a safety plan for each festival that is tailored to the current conditions and coordinated with the City of Munich’s District Administration Office (Kreisverwaltungsrat), the Fire Department (Branddirektion) and the Munich Police Headquarters. In this way, we ensure that we are as well prepared as possible for emergencies, such as the evacuation of the site, and that procedures are clearly defined.
The Tollwood Festival has been working closely with its security staff for many years.
The security staff monitor the festival, as well as the entrances and access routes, both during and outside opening hours.
To enhance security on the premises, security staff at the entrance to the Musik-Arena will be carrying out bag checks and random body searches using metal detectors. We therefore ask all visitors to the Musik-Arena to leave any items that are not absolutely essential at home. Only bags up to A4 size are permitted; backpacks are not allowed in the Musik-Arena.
Tollwood is using ‘Safer Spaces’ on the festival site: you will find QR codes around the site that allow you to contact security quickly and easily if you need urgent help, find yourself in an unpleasant, discriminatory, distressing or similar situation, or feel threatened. Through this link you can also contact us at a later date if something has happened or you have noticed something that we should be aware of. You can get in touch completely anonymously, without providing any personal details.
There is a ‘toilet for everyone’ on the festival site. The toilet is gender-neutral and is also equipped with a lift for people with disabilities.
In addition, there is another toilet block with gender-neutral toilets located between the Musik-Arena and the kids’ corner.
Knives are strictly prohibited on the Tollwood festival grounds.
