Summer, sun, misting sprays – stay cool at Tollwood

What applies in international and national climate policy also applies to our lives on the ground: politics, business, and society must take serious action to slow further global warming. At the same time, we must prepare for the impacts of the climate crisis that are already clearly being felt today – heatwaves, heavy rainfall, or drought. Tollwood is taking action: with climate protection AND heat protection.

We are preparing for hot days: with a new heat management concept, we ensure that visitors can relax and enjoy their stay even in summer heat.

Shade Islands: More roofs, sun sails, and umbrellas provide protection from excessive sunlight and invite visitors to relax and linger.

More greenery through plants, trellises, and trees also brings a sense of freshness to the festival.

Fountains in various garden areas and a water wall in the Quiet Oasis, providing relaxation and the soothing sound of flowing water.

Misting sprays that provide a pleasant evaporative cooling effect.

A small cooling oasis in the Löwengarten provides quick relief – and lifts your spirits!

Climate Protection and Commitment

Taking responsibility for climate and the environment has never been just a program item at Tollwood – it is a core value. The Tollwood Festival is more than a cultural and music festival – it is also a festival for people and the environment. Since its beginnings, ecological commitment has been deeply embedded in its identity. Many initiatives strengthen climate protection without diminishing culture and joie de vivre. This has always been the Tollwood philosophy.

  • Energy from 100% renewable electricity and energy-efficient technology save hundreds of tons of CO₂ emissions.
  • Certified organic festival hospitality (with a steadily growing vegetarian and vegan offer) supports sustainable agriculture.
  • A dedicated recycling center and waste separation stations are available throughout the festival.
  • Swap Space: Items that are too good to throw away find a new purpose here.
foodsharing Munich collects food in the evening that can no longer be sold the next day and redistributes it.
  • “Cycle to Tollwood” initiatives and the MVG bus, which stops directly at the site, promote climate-friendly travel.
  • Unavoidable emissions are offset.
  • Environmental and human rights organizations are provided with free action spaces.
