Festival motto Tollwood Winter Festival 2023

“Art washes away from the soul
the dust of everyday life”

Pablo Picasso

Pablo Picasso not only left the world countless works of art, but also profound words of wisdom. One of the most beautiful is: “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” This is also the motto of this year’s Winter Festival.

With this message, Tollwood reminds us of the existential importance of art, which is the elixir of life and indispensable for all of us. Art reflects cultural and social processes, the confrontation with the environment and nature, and it creates spaces for new ways of thinking and acting. Creative activity promotes health and well-being. And last but not least, art connects, delights and inspires us. The Tollwood Winter Festival aims to be a place of encounter with and inspiration through art, offering its audience many opportunities to step out of the everyday.

There is the breathtaking Limbo Unhinged variety circus with brilliant artistry, grooving sound and a fantastic organic menu. There is the talking, interactive Christmas tree with Christmas stories from all over the world. Then there’s the KunstRaum, a place where everyone can create art. Under the motto “Showing profile – shaping the future”, a collectively designed installation will be created here during the festival. With expert guidance, you can discover your creative and artistic self here. And last but not least, there is the magical Market of Ideas with many surprises and an arts and crafts village.

“I know no better definition of the word Art than this: Art – is the man”

Vincent Van Gogh
